Buddy - East Gippsland Specialist School Assistance Dog
Buddy is our school’s Assistance Dog whose job is to support the mental health, wellbeing and learning of students in our school.
The Assistance Dogs Program helps to introduce an Assistance Dog into a service, in this case, a school setting. It aims to create a permanent connection between the school community and the assistance dog which leads to positive emotional and social impacts for all.
The program focusses on assisting students and staff with emotional regulation, social connection and communication which can help with trauma, anxiety, the escalation cycle and improving the mental health and wellbeing of students.
